I'm sitting at Panera this morning having a lovely time with my anatomy notes. I know that statement sounds sarcastic, but I am really just enjoying this liesurely time to study. I woke up this morning to a crispness in the air. The fist hint of fall is here and it awakens my heart this time every year. I feel a little more childlike, a little more energetic and I begin to think of how to decorate for the holidays. Good thoughts.
My friend Karli(from growing up in Conroe) always had the best fall and Christmas decorations at their house. Miss Cydney was full of creativity and love for her home. I always enjoyed seeing their house this time of year. When I was sitting down this morning at the coffee shop, guess who I saw. None other than Karli and her momma. We caught up on the last 2 years of our lives(in brief) and exchanged hugs. My heart was lightened.
While sitting here this morning I have been overhearing some wonderful conversations. If you can see far behind me there is a group of ladies in a knitting group. Yes they are just sitting around talking about yarn and life and specialty yarn shops in Brenham. I absolutely love knitting and even though my spare time is devoted to the books these days, it was fun to hear them discussing the craft.
Now take a look to the left. There is a group of men in their 40s and 50s sitting behind me. Most of their morning was just spend shooting the breeze, but there is something so comforting about hearing men discuss their family and civic life. I could tell by the way they mentioned their wives and families that they love the Lord and are just trying to do this everyday aspect of life well.
Study breaks over...back to the books.
Have a lovely Saturday friends.
You are much loved.

The question of the day is...
How can I retain all of this?!
This stack of books can seem daunting to say the least. But don't be too impressed they contain a lot of overlapping information formatted in different ways. I'm not going to Harvard, just a little school up I-45. I'm facing my mid-term for the online anatomy class I'm taking through Texas Woman's and I'm questioning if I'm adequately prepared.
This morning
Beth had a little wisdom to share with me.
Repetition and deliberate practice of recollection are vital if we want to retain God's Word to abide and remain a storehouse of riches in us long after we conclude our study.
Beth was speaking to studying the Bible, but it gave me a fresh encouragement as I face this stack of books. If I am going to be able to use this knowledge ten years down the road, I need to start recalling it now. I tend to read and reorganize and outline until my face is blue, but I bet a little practice in recall would go a long way.
Well, you know where I'll be the next few days.

Every Christmas seems to have a certain theme about it and it makes you painfully or joyfully aware of where you are in life. This season is bittersweet for me. I am closing a very beautiful and challenging year in the Texas Hill Country. I am moving home which is a bit of a step backwards, but I'm honestly looking forward to it. I will have a backyard, 3 dogs, a cat and a full house again. Food will magically appear in the fridge and I'll run into old friends around town.
Also, this move is a part of my transition to school in Houston beginning this fall. Texas Woman's University has saved me a spot in the classroom that will mold the class of 2011 Physical Therapy doctoral students. For some reason they want me to be a part of their fun.
As you can see by the photos of the boxes in my house, I am moving. Tomorrow is the big day. Papa helped me reserve a Uhaul, Daddy is bringing up Clifford the big red dodge and friends are coming to save my Dad from injuring his back. Moves are always strange, but this one is really coming together.
